Don’t rush to relax
Aim to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early for your first appointment in order to fill out a one page case history form and get acquainted with the massage therapy procedures.  Arrive at least 5 minutes before your appointment in order to give yourself enough time to use the washroom, change and get organized.

When you arrive
Have a seat in the spa waiting room just inside to the left and down the stairs. If you need to use the washroom do that before we head into the treatment room. I leave fifteen minutes in between each appointment so I can speak with each patient before and after the treatment without making them feel rushed. I use this time to give stretches and rehab to provide receipts, re-feul and to re-book appointments. It is also important to me that each patient receives a full sixty minute massage. Most therapists book on the hour in order to make more money, rushing their patients and cutting them short of treatment time and rehabilitation education.  Occasionally I need to spend more time with patients in between appointments, or need to make a quick phone call and eat some food. If I am not with someone I may still need the time to prepare for your session so please enjoy a magazine until I invite you into the room.

Your First Treatment

If you have not been for a massage before you will have time to ask questions and make yourself at home before the treatment starts.  Many people ask what to wear. You may wear what ever you are comfortable in. Typically a patient would undress (down to their underwear) and lay face down in between the sheets and duvet. Only the area being treated is un-draped. A thermaphore heating pad is used in the winter.  The treatment is very relaxing and comfortable. If the treatment required piriformis or hip flexor work, it may be better to go get the underwear off as well. We can talk about that when you are there. Anything is possible depending on your comfort level.  I often do some stretching, osteopathic rehab or Thai yoga stretches after, so if you are there for a low back injury it may be a good thing to wear your “stretchy clothes” so we can add in some stretches after your treatment.

Parking
There is parking right out front.

Cancellation Policy
I have a 24hr business day Cancellation policy. I am often able to fill the appointment if i have time at lunch one business day before to make some phone calls and find a replacement. Thanks for letting me know if you are not able to make your appointment as soon as you find out. I understand that things happen and don’t often charge for the first missed appointment.

If your under the Weather
If you are not sure whether a massage would be a good thing when you are feeling sick, call me and explain to me how you are feeling. Sometimes it is better to stay at home, fill up on vitamin C, hydrate and recover and sometimes it is helpful to get a massage.  Depending on how I’m feeling, I may not be up for fighting what you have. If you are deathly ill, stay home and take care of yourself.  If you are unsure, give me a call and we can decide together.

Working out and morning appointments
Please shower before your massage if you have not that day or if you have just finished a workout! I know it sounds like a funny request but it’s worth a mention.

If you are running behind
If you are running behind and are able to send a quick text or give me a call I would appreciate it. When you arrive I will do what I can to give you the best treatment in the amount of time we have left.
This will allow me enough time in between appointments to ensure enough change over time for the next patients appointment to respectfully start on time. If you are more then twenty minutes late and I have not heard from you I may have run out to do some errands.

And most importantly, thanks for coming in for your body tune ups. I love my job, I love spending time with everyone and I love helping people remember what it feels like to be back in balance physically and mentally!
